My first video blog.

  1. OH MY GOD! Nick! You are absolutely, utterly... simply TOO wonderful and witty and cute for words! And I mean cute as in "sexy good-looking", not cute as in little-kid squishable. Although you are, also, adorable.

I officially love everything about you.

Including the very trendy boots! Thanks for granting my request!! (Minor concern: Are you 100% certain that SLC is better in every respect, shopping-wise, than all of Idaho? I quite like the thrift stores in Boise and Sun Valley.) Anyway--I can utterly see why Rachel is so smitten with you! You two seem like kindred spirits--with, I dunno, kindred "auras"? Is that too New-Agey? You both seem... maybe I'm not right about this... but, from a distance, I'd say, you both come across as... energetic, warm, with an edge of saucy-naughtiness. And an ever-present layer, like lava, underneath that cute crusty exterior, of sincere sweetness and compassion. Am I partly right? Well, whatever, you're both wonderful and vivid and wise... and how the hell did that miserable gray town spawn two like you?

Oops. No offense, Rach, if you read this--Shelley is probably blissful in ways I know not of. It's just not my thing.

I've gotten terribly off-topic. I'm thrilled for you about Glee and the biceps. Very generous of you to share the biceps! I'm impressed; it's terribly unfair how much more noticeably muscles show on boys.

Books... I was going to read East of Eden! My bro. really loved it. I couldn't find it at the library. I hope you'll keep us posted so I'll know if I should keep looking. Speaking of my bro... After seeing your darling "video blog", I'm quite disappointed I was never able to visit Shelley last summer, since I was planning to tell you my brother's indescribably fantastic story about an SF restaurant with hot, half-naked Brazilian boy servers (with a delightful tangent involving my husband). It's startling how much better a "feel" is possible from video footage than other forms, even extensive writing and photos.

Blog topics... Hmm. I wish I had a scintillating suggestion. I tend to love all your chosen topics. I'm terribly interested in the books that have touched/influenced people; but maybe that's just me. Perhaps no one else would care.

I'd kill for embarrassing/revealing stories about Rach when she was younger.

You're lovely! Keep being you. You're... "resplendent"? (I think that's the right word.)

    Appreciatively,
    Heidi

  2. I absolutely love the video blog! Love love it.

    1. It makes me miss you, terribly.
    2. It made me giggle, my co-workers were probably very annoyed with me or thought I was crazy, as I was listening in my headphones.
    3. Love the boots and the biceps. And I'm so glad that you are enjoying SLC and the shopping. I must admit that I often miss the days when I worked at an office building at the Gateway because I loved to look at all the pretty things at the mall during my lunch break.
    4. Since you are just in Salt Lake and I am just in Orem, we should probably have dinner sometime.

Hope to see a new video soon!

  3. Heidi, when I say Idaho, I mean SE Idaho, specifically. I've little experience with the rest of the state, sadly. I guess I should be more specific.

  4. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you KNOW how I feel about multiple exclamation marks!

You are so hot! And funny! And I miss you! And the biceps! Oh, the biceps!

  5. P.S. Heidi....I don't have a particular attachment to Shelley as a cool place to live. It's just close to what Abe and I refer to as "the titty."

  6. Rach--? "the titty"? The city? Or... your family? Anyway, I take it back about Shelley being a miserable town. I don't really think that; I was just in a cranky mood or something. But, I'm SO glad you wrote that, among other things, you think Nick's "hot"! You know how sometimes things sound really awesome, in your head, and make perfect sense to you... and then, when, late at night, in a sort of daze, you write them out, at length, and share them with a person you've never technically "met"... they don't sound nearly as awesome? In fact, just seem... maybe a bit overenthusiastic? Which is a good segue into...

Nick: I'm relieved that you weren't casting aspersions on the consumer opportunities in Idaho, which I take great personal and patriotic pride in! Just kidding. (Another remark that sounded more awesome in my head than in print.) Anyway, if--as I gather from your recent comment on Karen's blog--you've only worked out consistently for 3 months or so--it seems to me that you're getting especially impressive results! Congratulations.

And I mean all that, and all of the above, in the nicest, un-weirdest, most modest and moderate way possible.

    And... um... Happy Shopping!

  7. East of Eden changed my life. Literally. After I read it i've read 6 other Steinbeck books. I'll read all of them this year, that's my goal anyway. He's incredible. East of Eden is incredible. Modern Cain and Abel, and overcoming the jusitification of guilt. Outstanding. Also, John Steinbeck loves/hates whores. Just saying. Happy Christmas, Nick.
